April 2025 Journal Update
I'm going to stop hoping for a quieter, more chill month ahead as I think I'm just cursing myself! The first four months of 2025 have aged me about four years so I think I'm due a rebate going in to Spring and Summer. We'll see! But for now, let's see what I managed to paint in April!
Here's this month's addition to the Self Portrait line up and I think a bit of the stress seeped in to it! Look closely and you can see that I did a very textured layer of gesso first to give the ink something to move over and around for some interesting textures.
I've started a new gallery section as I'm going to continue working over the top of previous canvases as for ReFramed 2025. Here's the first entry in which I used stickers that I made myself out of adhesive paper, gesso and paint. I like the result, it's really bright in person and is cheering up the wall right now.
Spring is springing and I think you can see it in these two additions to my wee Watercolours. Green, purple and blue, what else could you need?
I think the stress might be showing in the Brown Sketchbook as well, judging by these newest pages. Lots of offcuts from my hand painted stickers over ink and bother.
Similar story in the newest pages of the Pink Sketchbook. I'm now craving more coloured pencil work, maybe over some nice textured gouache. Something nice and scratchy!
Here's some more pages for the Yellow Sketchbook and it's think, crinkly pages loaded with way too much paint and ink! It's holding on though and is as fun to work on as ever.
I'm actually almost finished with my little sketchbook from the tapestry aka my doodling while watching Minecraft playthroughs sketchbook, check the progress:
Lastly, a couple more spreads in the watercolour notebook...basically matching those two watercolour paintings. I really fancy doing a big watercolour soon, roll the big brush back out.
That's your lot for April 2025 and I am going to make no advance art plans for May as I think God already has enough to laugh at! My biggest ambition right now is to play some remastered Oblivion. But I'm sure I'll make something or other and I'll be back at the end of the month with another update.
